MEG film 2018
Sharks ... People have always experienced an instinctive fear of these super-predators, on which they repeatedly and sometimes quite successfully tried to play filmmakers. And the more a shark - the more terrible, the blessing the scriptwriters do not need to invent plot moves to justify the awe-inspiring dimensions of monsters: in reality, these fishes reach decent sizes, and some tens of thousands of years ago the water expanses belonged to real giants - megalodons. It was with these prehistoric predators that the filmmaker decided once again to scare the viewer: the film “MEG” 2018 was released.
The topic of sharks and their predilection for human flesh was repeatedly raised in cinema, and from different sides: as a full-fledged thriller, like “Jaws” and “Deep Blue Sea”, and in the bloody thrash tapes “Two Million Years Later” and “ Mega-shark vs Mecha-shark ”from the famous studio Asylum. The viewer likes to give himself a scare, in which the underwater monsters have been very successful and that is reflected in the box office of these paintings:
|The Jaws (1975)||7 milliondollars||470 million dollars|
|The Deep Blue Sea (1999)||60 million dollars||164 million dollars|
|"Open Sea" (2003)||130 thousand dollars||55 million dollars|
Judging by the invested funds ($ 150 million), plus the declared star cast, "MEG" should intimidate the viewer to faint and for a long time discourage even just go to any reservoir, albeit freshwater.
The director is responsible for John Terteltaub, who shot a lot of interesting and really noteworthy pictures, for example, “Phenomenon” (1996), “National Treasure” (2004), “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” (2010). In his films, Nicolas Cage, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, Anthony Hopkins and dozens of smaller stars starred with pleasure.
At the heart of the script is Steve Alten's novel Megalodon: Horror from the Deep. Five script writers worked on it:
- Bell Avery (“Malefactor” (1999); “Innocent Obsession” (1994);
- Dean Georgaris (“Hour of Reckoning” (2003); “Tristan and Isolde” (2005);
- Erich Hober ("Red 1.2"; "Sea Battle" (2012);
- John Hober (worked with Erich Hober);
- James Vanderbilt (Zodiac (2007); New Spiderman (2012).
Producers decided to participate as much as the Devil's Dozen, their cumulative filmography speaks for itself: "Constantine: Lord of Darkness" (2005), "Jurassic Park" (1993), "Schindler's List" (1993),all parts of The Lord of the Rings and many other notable pictures. Almost half of the composition is only being tried in the role of producers.
The operator has been invited by Tom Stern. In his “piggy bank” there are three pictures from the Top-250, which have gotten there thanks to his skills: “Baby per million” (2004), “Substitution” (2008), “Grand Torino” (2008).
Artists are entirely eminent masters who invented images for the "Lord of the Rings", "Avatar" and dozens of cash tapes of the fiction and fantasy genre. An extremely well-chosen team, many artists have repeatedly intersected and worked well together, which is important.
The quality of the film depends on the installation. In the case of "MEG" you can not worry about him: the editor will be "strong middling" Stephen Kemper. He is not listed in the top works, but all the paintings he mounted look very decent: "Without a face" (1997), "End of the World" (1999), "Legion" (2010).
When will the movie
The release date is scheduled for August 10, 2018. It will be very disappointing if the time when the picture comes out will be postponed to a later date. MEG is a long-term construction project, the start of filming was planned for 2005, but a long coordination of the budget and the transfer of rights back and forth strongly delayed the start of work.It remains to hope that the film crew will go according to plan.
More than three dozens of characters are involved in the shooting, movie stars are in the main roles, and recognizable faces for minor ones are:
- Jason Statham (no need to present);
- Ruby Rose (“Orange is the hit of the season” (TV series) “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” (2016); “John Wick 2” (2017) ;;
- Raine Wilson (“My Super-Ex” (2006); “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” (2009);
- Cliff Curtis ("Training Day" (2001); "Colombiana" (2011); "Fear the Walking Dead" (TV series);
- Bin Bin Lee ("The Forbidden Kingdom" (2008); "Resident Evil: Retribution" (2012); "Transformers: The Era of Extermination" (2014);
- Robert Taylor (“The Matrix” (1999); “Kong: Skull Island” (2017);
What is the movie about
The plot is based on a good action novel, published back in 1997. The rights to the film belong to the author of the book, so there should not be any serious plot differences (writers very well do not like bullying their own works).
A summary can be roughly presented, having read the book itself. Paleontologist Professor Taylor (he will just be played by State, well, Americans like 25-year-old girls with a degree in quantum physics and a fourth bust size,so why not be a type paleontologist with pumped muscles and gangster physiognomy?) has lectured at a university for many years and has written articles on megalodons. Once he was a pilot of a deep-sea apparatus. Until the moment when he met the object of his research - the real megalodon. The expedition ended in tragedy, now Taylor is trying to forget the details of that meeting and is terrified of approaching the water. But the constant bullying of colleagues forced to decide to take part in the new expedition. The professor wants to find evidence of the existence of the monster. He just doesn't know yet what horrors the search for the monster will lead to.
