How to create a cartoon?

Today, mastery of the magic of moving picturesbecame more accessible than ever. Everyone can create any kind of cartoon with their own hands without working on thousands of drawings on paper or plasticine figurines. You can realize your imagination with the help of knowledge of working methods in the program Macromedia Flash MX.

About Macromedia Flash

The program is suitable for creating bothprofessional animated films, and for home shorts. Download its full version here, and portable here. Of course, the former has great potential, but it will be enough for its training to be simplified.

To create a simple cartoon it will be enough to use only 3 working panels:

  • Desktop (located in the center) - here we work on the drawings themselves;
  • Toolbar (left) - a set of standard tools for drawing and modifying graphic objects;
  • Timeline (top) - here you add drawings to frames and much more.

Creating a simple cartoon

For clarity, we will draw a short cartoon with a falling leaf. First of all, it must be depicted on a white desktop field. For this:

  1. On the toolbar, select the Brush tool;
  2. set the brush size, for which we click on the button of the same name from the bottom of the same panel;
  3. draw a sheet at the top of the desktop.

On the timeline, you will notice that there is already one frame (a rectangle with a black dot). Add the rest, for what:

  1. click on it and press the right mouse button;
  2. select the item "Insert keyboard", than duplicate the previous frame;
  3. select the "Select" tool (upper left corner of the toolbar);
  4. we put the cursor on the sheet;
  5. clamp the left mouse button and move the sheet a little to the side and down;
  6. Point the cursor at the last frame on the timeline;
  7. press the right mouse button;
  8. select the item "Insert keyboard" - duplicate the last frame;
  9. repeat the actions in points 4 to 8.

Displace the object (sheet) in different directions, because the sheet usually falls swaying. You can also do this with the arrow keys on the keyboard.

The smaller the step the object moves in eachframe, the more smooth will be its movement in the finished video. Of course, this will increase the working time and the number of frames, but the lack of jerks makes the cartoon quality.

It is possible to accelerate this process thanks tothe use of hot keys. You can bind their combinations to commands in the menu "Hotkeys ...", which opens in the "Edit" tab (the upper left corner of the program window).

Preservation

Macromedia Flash allows you to save a project to a file for later work on it. For this:

  1. open the "File" tab;
  2. select "Save";
  3. specify the name of the project and its future location in the opened window;
  4. we press the button "Save".

If the film is already ready, it can be exported to video. In this case:

  1. open the "File" tab;
  2. select the item "Export";
  3. then the item "Exporting the film ...";
  4. specify the name of the project, its future location on the computer and its type (for example, Windows AVI) in the opened window;
  5. we press the button "Save".

By devoting enough time to this art and developing your skills and abilities, you can achieve quite decent results.
