Select radiators

In modern realities use 2 types of radiators

  • Cast iron radiators, connecting with metal pipes by welding;
  • Aluminum radiators, connected with metal-plastic pipes with special fasteners.

Choose the location of the radiators

After you have calculated the length and selectedmaterial radiators, proceed to their mounting to the walls. Heating batteries perform not only the function of heating, but also a kind of barrier that protects the room from the penetration of cold air. Therefore, they are usually placed under the windowsill.

If you install the radiators directly under the windowsill or in a recess, the natural heat losses will be around 3-7%, while trying to cover the batteries with a partition, the heat loss will increase to 20-25%.

Mounting the radiators is done with the help of special hook-holders, on which the batteries are hung.

Determine the way to connect the radiators

After the successful installation of the radiators, proceed to the connection of the pipes. There are several options for how to perform this connection:

  1. One-way connection. Performed in high-rise buildings or with a large number of sections. In this case, the inlet pipe is attached to the top of the first section, and the return pipe to the lower section. This method ensures a uniform heating of the radiator.
  2. Lower connection. Applicable in case the owner wants to hide the batteries under the floor for aesthetic reasons. In this case, the heating is more in the lower part, and the upper part of the radiator heats up worse. Such a connection is made at the bottom of the extreme section.
  3. Saddle connection is made in such a way,so that the inlet pipe approaches the lower part of the first section, and the return line is fixed to the bottom of the last section of the radiator. With this connection, the heat loss is approximately 15%, which is considered a fairly serious drawback.
  4. Diagonal (cross) connection. The inlet pipe is connected to the top of the first section, and the reverse one to the bottom. This method allows you to effectively use the entire area of ​​the radiator and is recommended in private houses and cottages.

If you plan to circulate water insystem with a pump (forced circulation), you can shield the radiators with partitions and use the saddle or bottom option of connecting the batteries. When using natural water movement, choose a diagonal or one-way connection of radiators.

Choose the scheme for connecting heating in a private house

There are three main options for connecting the heating in the house

  1. Single-pipe serial connection. Carried out alternatelyheating radiator batteryconnection of all radiators to one pipe. With this connection, the farther away from the boiler the next battery is located, the colder water comes to it. To ensure sufficient heat dissipation in this case, the number of radiator sections must be increased consecutively. The advantage of this method is the possibility of using natural water circulation. To do this, all pipes are positioned with a slight inclination to the horizontal plane. It is enough 1-2 cm per 1 meter of pipes.
  2. Single-pipe parallel connection. It is carried out during heating installation in multi-level houses. In this case, a pump is used to advance water through the system. On each floor a horizontal pipe is connected, connected to the boiler, and the radiators are connected to the system using small separate frames.
  3. The two-pipe parallel connection differs from the previous version by connecting a separate pipe to drain the cooled water back to the boiler.
